I am aiming to be somebody, this somebody trusts with her delicate soul, I don't claim to know much of.
When I took a step back to look at the number of people who came down to celebrate my achievement with me, my heart swelled with joy. For a fraction of a moment, my eyes started to water because I thought about how these people took time out from their busy schedule; some applied for leave from work, skipped lecture, forgo lunchtime, travelled from Netherlands. All of them came all the way down specially. Thank you God for the blessings you put in my life in the form of these people. Every one of them are apart of my family.
My family at work. We’re always there for each other’s milestone events in life because we believe in celebrating triumphs and overcoming defeats altogether. This is why we are unbelievably close. I am deeply thankful for such a supportive culture that is so accepting and caring.
Umi & Vivian, you may not be working with us anymore, but you will always be regarded as part of our family in my eyes. Thank you both for helping me so much during your time here, I will always miss your presence in the office working alongside with me everyday. Thank you for continuing to be apart of my family coming down to celebrate in this joyous occasion with me.
My friends, the people I chose to be my family. Every single one of them have been through hell and back with me, and still all of them stayed. I have to say that I am extremely blessed when it comes to the people I meet in my life. There’s always someone I can turn to, someone I can trust to take care of a bad situation for me, someone who will hold my hand to cross the roads (because they know I’m timid), someone who will take the time to write an essay on why I shouldn’t buy an expensive bag with supporting evidence on better ways that sum of money could be spent, all these simply because they care. I will never be certain of what my life would be, but I’m so certain of who’s going to be in it.
Not forgetting, my family of all families. Not everyone made it but my dad and my relatives were texting me on whatsapp during the ceremony, so it still felt like they were there with me. Super glad and thankful for my mum, my aunt and my cousin’s presence. Especially my cousin, because she’s like the sister I never had and I like that even after we grew up, we still remained close. I hope to always make my family this proud of me and I believe that there will be many more happy and joyous occasions for us all to celebrate together.
I’ve always had a flair for the dramatic when it comes to celebrations, so thank you Chrisppics for helping me make that happen through your spontaneous photography and suggesting ideas like the mortar board throwing gifs! I’ve never liked studio graduation shoots because they are too formal and the backdrops are not nice. I want to look back on my convocation, in years to come, and remember how much fun I had with my loved ones during this celebration. I can’t wait to frame these up and display them everywhere!
I’ve been thinking about starting a blog again to improve my writing. So.. I guess this is my attempt at it haha. I’m not very sure what to write about, but I was just reading some other blogs before this. They mostly blogged about their lives so I’m gonna give it a try as well.
My week started off pretty mundane. But came Tuesday, my first intern (who’s no longer with my company now because she went back to school) dropped by for a short visit with Hari Raya goodies! She is such a sweetheart, always bringing treats for us. On her last day of internship, she bought us a box of m&m chocolate brownie (my fave). This girl always put a smile on my face. (:
Coincidentally, the next day, Ben (another used-to-be part-timer at my company) decided to drop by in the morning with milk tea for all of us! He was in the area & it was so nice of him to come by bearing gifts. I really miss working with them, the office is always filled with laughter because we have loads of inside jokes. :D I think my fave Ben jokes were when he mimicked Lulu from The Noose. I loved that, always gets me going hahaha
This was the best surprise of my week. (: I came back from lunch to 2 packages on my desk. I was expecting 1 of the packages because I ordered a stationery holder online. This (photo above) was such a pleasant surprise from Jas. She googled my workplace address to send them to me, awww… Really touched my heart because she’s an old friend, we drifted in & out of contact for all these years but she still puts in such effort to surprise me like this! Pretty sure every time I look at these stationeries at work, it’ll put a silly grin on my face. Thank you my dearest friend, I miss you!
Friday. The other half of my dynamic duo, Nose, decided to rally the patriotism in us by setting a red & white dress theme for all of us to come in to celebrate Singapore’s National Day. I helped to enforce hehe.
We always have fun at work because everyone is so spontaneous! Everyone including the guys came in red & white. We also had a sing-a-long to our National Day Parade songs session. (: One of my colleagues brought what was in this year’s National Day Parade fun pack. There were some temporary tattoos, Singapore badges & even a scarf! Yup, we played around with them. Sarah (my new intern) put on 2 of the temporary tattoos on her arm. We all made our boss use the scarf while the rest of us put on the badges. This is a fun way of being patriotic!
After that, it’s just a spam of our photos because that’s the best way to capture life’s best moments isn’t it?
